The best beach in Scotland???? Probably......If it wasn't on the wrong side of the country!!!It's pretty reliant on easterlies which do happen......just not as often as a beach like this deserves.
A beautiful 2 mile stretch of sand running from the mouth of the River Eden, all the way down to St Andrews itself.unforunately I'ts so beautiful that it gets really busy during the summer months which can prove to be a bit of a challenge to the kitesurfer setting up
There is a dedicated zone at St Andrews but it doesn't occlude much of the beach.
The tide goes out a long way and this makes it a great location for buggiers with a very flat surface being left behind
Of course, this means at high tide that the whole area is very shallow and makes it Ideal for the beginner
St Andrews itself is a beautiful old town with the obvious tourist attractions of golf(duh!) and the old ruins, sea life centre and many many more that I've completely ignored in my determination to kitesurf......but remember, because it is such a tourist hotspot, and because the main market is rich, american golfers......prices can reflect this.........take a packed lunch!!!!
